The Osaki OS-4000T and 4000T are fantastic massage chairs due not only to its affordable price but a large number of features that come standard. There are 2 versions available for sale which are the Osaki OS-4000 and the Osaki OS-4000T.
The Osaki OS-4000T massage chair offers a great range of features to massage the upper area of the body, which adds to its versatility. People tend to carry a lot of tension in the shoulders and neck muscles, so the added bonuses of these massage features are sure to keep you nice and relaxed as a higher end chair. The airbags feel really nice, but it is not as deep as you would expect with some of the higher end chairs on the market. Luckily, you can flip the pillow back and flip the pad over to get a more aggressive massage around the upper back and neck area. The outer shoulder massage feels really great as many chairs do not even offer this feature. There are even 4 airbags on each side for your arms and forearms that offer a comfortable compression massage. There are 5 intensity options, but the strength is very slight from setting to setting. We would prefer a more dramatic intensity control.
The Osaki OS-4000T massage chair employs 4 extra soft 30” quad head rollers along with 2 airbags to massage your back. The strength is considered medium to strong and definitely does not feel as strong as we would like. Osaki OS-4000T Zero GravityIf you prefer a deeper massage, you can flip the pillow over and remove the back pad. Included is heat therapy in the lumbar area, which will help drain the tension and allow for a much deeper massage as it loosens up your muscles and soft tissue between your hip to the middle of your spine. Other chairs offer more coverage for heat, which does hold this chair back a bit. The Osaki OS-4000T adds in a vibration massage with variations in the pulse that almost makes you feel like you are in a Jacuzzi.
The Zero Gravity with 2 settings is a great feature that helps to relieve the stress on your spine and was originally created by NASA. The S-Track technology that Osaki uses definitely gives a more humanistic feel to the massage, but we feel that the rollers could definitely benefit from 3D technology. The vertical range of the rollers is from the top of the tail bone to the middle of your spine. There are 3 width settings from wide, medium, and narrow.
The Osaki OS-4000T has an upgraded feature for the Osaki OS-4000T which are the mechanical foot rollers. They provide a great massage for someone who is on their feet often, but it is a more mild massage in comparison to higher-end chairs. The calf massage is powered by many small airbags. While it feels good, we wish that it was a little more aggressive even with the 5 intensity settings. Higher end chairs will have better grab and refinement with smoother mechanics. The hip massage provides a good massage for the pelvic area and the stretch feature is really nice. We have seen some complaints that it grabs a little too hard on the legs, but we enjoyed it.
The strength of the Osaki OS-4000T is considered mid to strong. The settings are not super dramatic through the levels, but it does give you the basic adjustability you need. The upper, lower, and back massage will give you 5 intensity options and you can always remove the back pad to get a deeper massage.
There are 6 massage styles offered by the Osaki OS-4000T: Rolling, Kneading, Clapping, Shiatsu, Swedish, and Combo. We enjoy all of the styles that are offered, but the Swedish and Combo we found to be the most relaxing. We recommend that you try all of them to see which works best for your needs.
There 8 auto programs included. 5 of the programs are full body massages: Healthcare, Relax, Therapy, Smart, and Circulation. The other 3 are partial massage groups that will allow you to focus on specific locations: Neck/Shoulder, Back/Lumbar, and Lower Body.
TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN
While the Osaki OS-4000T is very feature driven, the technology and design are a little dated compared to many of the newer massage chairs that have been coming out. The Osaki OS-4000T includes Body Scan technology, which is one of the most important features of a massage chair. With the press of a button, a sensor will scan your body and make adjustments to your height and width and is recommended for people 5’4” to 6’4” and under 265 lbs.
The Osaki OS-4000T also includes a very intuitive LCD pedestal style remote, which is very easy to use. It shows the position of the rollers and what airbags are on at any time. A small wireless remote is included which allows some so you do not have to reach up to the tablet to make adjustments. The only drawback we have found is that we have gotten so relaxed during the massage that we dropped the wireless remote.
The Osaki OS-4000T has a very contemporary design that will fit in most any home décor and comes in 4 color options: Black/Beige, Cream/Tan, Charcoal/Beige, and Brown/Black. The modern and executive look are held back slightly by the use of cheaper synthetic leather.
The Osaki OS-4000T is fairly easy to assemble and the instructions are simple and easy to follow. If you have never put together a massage chair before, then we think it should take approximately 45 minutes with 2 people. Make sure to have a friend help you as the some of the parts can be heavy and awkward to move. If you do not want to put it together yourself, then we recommend the White Glove Delivery option from EMassageChair.com and they will set it all up for you.
The MSRP for the Osaki OS-4000T is $2895.00, which is quite a deal considering all the features that come packed in. If we could score this higher, we would. You will not find a better massage chair on the market at this price range at the time this review has been written and Emassagechair.com often has sales on this model. You can also find the older Osaki OS-4000T model at the large online retailers for a little less, but the added foot rollers are a great addition and worth the upgrade.
The Osaki OS-4000T has become a benchmark for many in the massage chair industry since its debut, but it definitely needs a little updating. Adding the foot rollers in the Osaki OS-4000T model was a nice touch, but we wish they would have added more. One thing we will point out is the fantastic manufacturer warranty from Osaki that covers Parts, Labor, and Structural framework for the first year, Parts and Structural Framework for the second year, and structural framework for the 3rd year.
